Mensa Politics
Take part in the running of San Diego Mensa! You can:
- host the monthly Open House (a/k/a Newcomers'
and Oldtimers' Party);
- become an Officer:
- the rules are set out in Article VII of the
Bylaws;
- get 25 of your fellow San Diego Mensans (OK, 24 plus you) to sign a Nominating Petition nominating you for a
Board position (the form includes spaces for 30 nominators, in case you're
worried that some of them may not have paid their dues on time);
- turn it in no later than May 5;
- take office on July 1.
- make your voice heard to our local Officers by:
- asking for items to be placed on the Agenda of
the monthly Board meeting;
- bodily showing up for the meeting;
- quarterly, in August, November, February, and May, attending the General Gathering, open to all members,
just before the Board meeting (traditionally, 15 minutes before);
- knowing the Bylaws (which can be changed only by the membership); and
- knowing the Standing Rules (which can be changed by the Board, but which persist
even after a new Board has been elected, until amended by some new Board);
and
- do all of the above (dates and procedures vary):
