Intelligent people join Mensa for one of two reasons:

• because they can; and

• to meet with other intelligent people.

Because They Can

Perhaps you just want to know for yourself that you're in the top 2%. Perhaps, in your particular line of work, Mensa membership looks good on your résumé. Perhaps a membership certificate hanging on your wall will improve your relationships with family and friends. If so, then go straight to The Mechanics of Joining. To Meet With Other Intelligent People

We hold a number of open-to-the-public events, generally meals. Come. Sit. Eat. Talk. Realize, after a few months, how much more pleasant the conversation would be if you could talk about the Mensa Admission Test that you had signed up for, or the old SAT scores that you had dredged up and sent to American Mensa's American Mensa Office.
